Veronica briefly stops in front of the
Heek Inc. store. Most of the neighborhoods she had seen
in the cavern had the basic set-up, but she could never
recall a place like this! "Video game store, but no
Prada store...pfft! Such injustice.." She wanders thru
the water garden, glancing at the small gnome, walks a
few feet and then stops suddenly. She stares intently at
the gnome, swearing that it had turned as she walked by.
She laughs nervously and quickly walks up the long
staircase, looking up at the balcony and admiring the
view, then down into the garden again...had that gnome
moved? Shaking her head at herself, she moves away from
the top of the stairs.
She can hear voices
echoing slightly off the rock, but cannot see anyone
close by. "Hmm...I wonder if the classroom looks the
same or if there is any new information to be seen?" She
puts her hand against the blue crystal and enters,
admiring the beauty and somewhat more luxurious feel of
the place compared to the supply store. She sees a desk
against the wall, with various documents, scientific
equipment, writing instruments and ink wells scattered
about the surface. "Well, someone has certainly found
themself a nice place here." She walks behind the desk
and notices several cushions in the chair, tossing them
to the floor, she settles into the chair, propping her
feet up on the desk. "Now this is very comfortable. I
wonder who works in here?" She leans back and puts her
hands behind her head and as she crosses her ankles her
foot knocks over the ink well and sends it across the
desk. "Drat it all!" She sets the bottle upright on the
desk, looking at the spreading stain. "Oh, this can't be
good." She picks up the document most damaged by the ink
and tosses it into the garbage. "Well, no real harm
done." However, considering her most recent evictions
from other neighborhoods she decides to make a hasty
retreat back to the supply
store.

Kestryll links in in front of the
eggroom and takes two steps to the right. Benny links in
and takes one really big step to the left. Barry links
in and takes one really big step back. Finally Betty
links in.
See how easy that was? None of this
Bahro Pile atop Kestryll business?
*EEee!*
Good!
Now let's collect that Keanulint and move him to that
spot above the garden.
Kestryll leads the way
and says, "S'cuse us. to the young lady that they
pass.
They troop up to the balcony it had been
hanging off of and they carefully coax it until it let's
go. Barry holds it up by the tail and they all set off
for the garden.
After a bit of climbing around
atop each other they finally manage to get the thing on
the wall where it finds the rather thick growth of moss
and fungus that Kest wanted it to.
They march
past the little gnome.
'Don't mind us. Busy,
busy, busy. Places to go. Errands to run. Beach balls to
find. Have to slaughter the Kieths at Link Ball. Carry
on, little gnome.'
Kestryll snaps a picture of
the now thoroughly contented Keanulint. Funny the gnome
is in there somewhere as well...
FM left a small post-it note on
Thietris' desk, as well as a small
notebook.
Thietris, Have started looking at
the King's Journals - here is my work so far. Expect
more in the coming days. More pencils and and a bigger
paperweight would be greatly
appreciated.
FM
(Yes I actually
started summarizing the journals - since I have to MotBC
to summarise right now I need something to
do!)
Kings Journals: King Ja'kreen - King
Ahlsendar
King Ja'Kreen
-
Set about the construction of the King's Arch and the
Great King's Temple (many people were confused as to the
strange dimensions of this temple). According to many
prophecies the Great King of D'ni would pass through the
arch as they came to D'ni, and so the building of the
arch was considered an important matter. The building of
the arch took 25 years (600 - 625), this time being of
great importance since D'ni numbers have a base of
25.
- In 654 Ja'kreen's wife gave birth to a son,
who died shortly after childbirth due to a rare disease.
Ja'kreen's wife also died shortly after at a young age
(probably younger than 200).
- From this time
Ja'kreen was considered a different person, he married
again later on, to a wife who gave him a son and two
daughters. It was Ja'kreen who began the construction of
the J'taeri district, and proclaimed it the "high-class"
district, and named it after his first
son.
King Veesha
- Had two sons
before he took the throne, and had three more during his
reign (this is considered a lot for the D'ni).
-
Was very religious, and enforced these views upon the
people in many laws and oaths, most of which were
removed by his son.
- his fifth son, a
maintainer, ended up in a coma after an accident during
an inspection of an Age (possibly toxic gases). Despite
many saying that the son would not ever wake up, Veesha
maintained that Yahvo would resurrect his son. Three
years later, the son re-awoke, shocking everyone in D'ni
except for King Veesha himself.
- upon his death,
Veesha left his throne to his "reborn" fifth son,
Mararon.
King Mararon
- After
his coma placed great value on life, and tried his best
to show this value to the D'ni throughout his
reign.
- Created the minor guilds (education,
banking, architecture), and increased the size of the
Common Schools and the ages people attended them for.
After a person finished the common schools, they could
then enter the minor guilds and not simply return to
society.
- When he wasn't pushing education,
Mararon was heavily involved in drinking, smoking, as
well as many affairs with different people, including
his prophetesses (although this was denied by all
parties however). These affairs led to him abolishing
his father's strict laws on marriage and
adultery.
King Koreen
- During
Koreen's reign, many people who had been angered by
Veesha's stance of religion came forward, and called
themselves the Judges of Yahvo.
- Koreen has a
close relationship with his younger brother, and the
pair were very close throughout Koreen's reign.
-
At one point in his reign, a prominent writer went
missing from the Guild of Writers, as well as stocks of
ink and books from their own respective guilds. Security
was tightended on these ages but unknown to the king the
Judges were writing their own ages to try and form their
own army.
- They succeeded and created the Pento
Age, and the army of people from this age overran the
city just as Koreen's wife was giving birth to their
first son. As the Judges continued to kill Koreen's
family escaped to a Private Age (although it is said
that Koreen's wife gave birth to their first son as they
passed under the King's Arch).
- Koreen was
eventually assassinated by the Judges of Yahvo and their
army and the city was thrown into complete
chaos.
King Ahlsendar (The Great
King)
- Son of Koreen - stayed in a
Private Age for some time after his father's death,
possibly at the suggestion of his uncle (Koreen's
brother).
- Ahlsendar's uncle was a Linguist,
and so spent much time trying to translate then Pento
language and figure out as much as he could about them,
and how he could get his nephew on the throne. This
waiting for informatin paid off, as the Judges
eventually killed the leader of the Pento, who had left
no heir but two sons who would fight over the
leadership. This civil war meant that the Judges lost
any army they might have had.
- Meanwhile, the
people of D'ni waited for Ahlsendar, who they believed
was the prophecised Great King. They knew he was born
beneath Great Arch and many other parts of the prophecy
such as "he lies in wait while another takes the throne"
also related to him. And so the more Ahlsendar waited,
the more the people of D'ni were willing to fight for
him.
- Fifteen weeks after his father's death,
Ahlsendar returned to D'ni, took back much of the city,
and began negotiations with the Pento leader who
believed that they owed the Judges of Yahvo nothing (of
the two Pento fighting for leadership, one was in favour
of helping the Judges, and the other against them.).
- The pair made a deal, and Ahlsendar helped the
Pento leader defeat his brother, and in return two
leaders of the Judges were turned over to him. The
remaining three were caught in the city. All five were
sent to prison ages, the books burned.
- Several
days later Ahlsendar was crowned, and
everyone(literally) in D'ni attended the
coronation.
- Throughout his reign, there were
many claims that Ahlsendar had special linking powers,
and was able to travel between Ages without books, and
link between locations within ages [like
Yeesha?].
- Unknown to the D'ni public Ahlsendar
began to work on a plague which would stop other races
like the Pento from harming D'ni. He also continued
relations with the Pento.
- It was when Mekkar
(the Pento Ahlsendar had helped to defeat his brother
for leadership of the Pento) linked to D'ni through a
linking book provided to him and judges, that Ahlsendar
killed Mekkar himself, and released the plague on Pento
(records don't specify how.)
- Within three days
all of the Pento died, but not before many linked to
other Ages and spread the disease. The D'ni however were
safe from the disease although the Guild of Chemists
feared the disease may mutate. [could this have been the
disease Veovis used in the fall?]
- After this
plague Ahlsendar admitted to the people what he had
done, and asked to be sealed within the Temple of the
Great King with all of the books of D'ni (the temple's
strange dimensions made sense to the D'ni now, as they
were needed to hold so many books).
- Several
years later Solath, (who was temporarily in charge of
the throne) was appointed King, after Ahlsendar's final
wishes were uncovered. The note also stated that for no
good reason was the temple to be unsealed. Noone even
questioned the validity of this note, and the Great
King's Temple became known as the Great King's
Tomb.
Thietris is
teaching now!? But I need to summarise!
And the MotBC thread hasn't been re-posted to a point
when I can summarise..and the A&C still scares me. I
still have 22 more Kings to go though...
Benny! Send that poor FM some more
coffee. ... Make it stronger. ... I'm going
for all out crash and burn here. ... Perfect! That should get
him wired to the hilt and send him straight into baabaa
land within the hour! ... Baabaa land. Place to
count sheep. You know. Sleep? ... Just send the
coffee...
Almech, after spending several hours
working into Sharper's good graces, links into the
institution carrying the linking stones from Kirel. He
stacks them all on top of thietris' desk next to
frontmullet's notebook. Leaving a sticky note he used
the top stone to link to the city.
Professor,
I brought these linking stones as a shortcut to the
city. I'm not sure where to put
them.
Due to an
unexpected anomaly in the space-time continuum, another
box arrived at Elkae's Canyon camp much later than the
sender intended. Still, it was a welcome sight. The
truffles from the last package were long gone, as was
the wine.
She couldn't tell whether the package
was delivered by Falling Boxes or his older brother,
Kicking Boxes--but she had her suspicions. The package
fell with unnecessary velocity, shattering the delicate
glass lining of the thermos. To make matters worse,
Eddie had a hole in him. Big baby that she sometimes is,
Elkae began to cry. Fortunately, there are no mushrooms
at the bottom of the Canyon.
She pulled herself
together and began further inspection of the contents of
the box.
Hmmmmmm
Oh?!
Wow!!
Working for Zandi DOES have its
benefits!

Suddenly he smells something familiar.*

Professor T was in a good mood,
having seen the improvements to TLG's shop and Grizz's
store. He enters his office and sees all the work piled
on his desk.
Let's see: "... linking stones
... not sure where to put them." Hmmm.
Goodness!
Frontmullet's been busy: "King Ja'Kreen ... King Veesha
... King Mararon ... King Koreen ... King Ahlsendar ...
plague ... Great King's Tomb."
Yes, a great deal
of useful information there. Well, so much for the
post-it note. Let's see what's in the
notebook.
